Our hero Alexander van Holk
On March 17, 2014, chairman Daan Hendriksz presented a certificate during an emotional dinner gathering to Alexander van Holk, residing in London. Alexander was appointed as the international Ambassador of the Aniek Hendriksz Second to None Foundation.
Alexander is an admirable person with a compelling story. Due to a tragic accident, Alexander became wheelchair-bound. However, this has not stopped him from making life a great success. Alexander is an immense fighter and has achieved remarkable goals both professionally and personally. Besides being a successful banker at Morgan Stanley in London, he is also an elite athlete training for the 2016 Paralympics where he will represent the Netherlands as a rower.
Alexander was present at the Heldendiner 2013. With a big grin, he danced his way across the dance floor. With his zest for life and positivity, he serves as a great inspiration for us and many others. This summer, Alexander will marry his incredibly beautiful fiancée, Luise Volwahsen.
Alexander resides in London and works for Morgan Stanley there. However, he gladly traveled to the Netherlands for this recognition.
“First and foremost, I feel incredibly honored that you would ask me to receive the certificate. I remember vividly that we danced and talked together. The evening (of the Heldendiner) was very dear to me, and I felt so privileged to be there and in my own way contribute to the remarkable way in which you keep Aniek’s memory alive and support the positive cause at the same time.
Of course, I cannot say no to this, and I would receive the certificate with great pride. It gives me another reason to smile and enjoy a little extra every day. A reason to cherish the memories of the people who are unfortunately no longer here for the rest of my life, and to continue drawing strength from them.
I promise to do everything I can to not disappoint you in your choice, and I would gladly contribute in any way possible to the foundation.
Lots of love, Alexander
